for a tank this size what do you beleive would be the best material to use
im not rushing into it at the moment im just trying to find out
so i can keep an eye out for cheap meterial once i get my hands on some cheap stuff ill be able to start thinking about creating a tank of this size

you actually wont be saving any money unless you go with plywood, and even then you wont save much. if you want to go with acrylic then you have to build a tank at least over 220gal.

so it would cost around the same to jus buy an already built one
instead of makin one
its also quite difficult to find a tank with similar dimensions

well im not sure, ive never built a tank but thats what ive read here, i wanted to build a 40gal. until i found out that id be loosing more money than if i bought it, so i just bought one.:D . id just wait for a pro to answer you.

If you have the glass from a 55 you can build it from plywood and drylok for about $150. My 600 gallon is sealed with drylok and I have had no problems with it. I used Hardiplank with drylok, others have just painted drylok on wood, although it has not been proven long term, and I would not recommend it.
