Just curious to know what manufacturer gets the most love when it comes to the 1911

For me, it's a toss up between the classic Colt GI and the Kimber's.

Good choices,my dream 1911 is the Guncrafter Industries 50 G.I.

The 1911 is like the AR-15, so many people making them, some great, some not so great.

My favorite are of course any WWI or WWII GI issue rather its a Colt, Springfield, etc.

For low budget 1911s, Ive had great experience with Rock Island Armory. The new Kimbers and even Springfields these days are woefully lacking in quality. IMO if spending a grand or less on a 1911, go ahead and go RIA and save $500 and have a gun just as good. If you have deep pockets, its hard to beat Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat or any of the other custom made in the USA guns.

I have an original Colt model 1911 I got when I was in tha Army before they stopped issuing them so I'm alittle biased. I carried it in Grenada along with a Mossburg 500 Trench gun two awsome wepons with great stopping power.

I was at the fun show earlier today and a 1911 that is chambered for .22 caliber.

Kimber, browning and a few others are doing this now. Supposed they're the same size and are intended for training.

My father has the .22 insert barrel for his one Kimber. I haven't shot it yet though.

The one that I saw was made by ATI...the company who brought us their 22 version of the MP5.

I believe there are a couple companies now that make the inserts for the 1911.

.22 version of the MP5? Do you mean the GSG-5?
