Ok. I cant find any info for values of car before like 91 so I am looking for my first car and am wondering if this is a good deal. It doesn't list mileage so I will have to call about that. But from what it does list about the car tell me if you think it is worth it for a 16 year old.

I honestly really dislike those cars.. Unless you have a very strong reason to buy it I think you could do better.

I like this.. lol kinda pimp.. http://denver.craigslist.org/car/719290736.html

Seriously though just looking through the first page there was a cheap sentra, a couple other cars that IMO I would get before the sidekick..

Eh.
What kinda cars do you like?
I'm turning 16 next month and am probably getting a Datsun S30(Aka 240z/Fairlady Z)
They can be had for as little as $1500. Most $$$ one I've seen was one that had a Chevy 350 swapped in for 10K.
The one i plan to get is about $3000 and it good shape.

They're pretty fast cars, and fun aswell.

There's Also:
Nissan 240sx(Pretty cheap, but alot of people want them so you might see people jacking up prices)
Toyota AE86(5spd, 26mpg, rear wheel drive, and CHEAP)
Honda Civic(Econobox, good gas mileage, point a to point b kinda car)
Acura integras(Be careful, they get stolen ALOT)

What cars do you like/price range?

I need 4wd and fuel economy (live in the snowy mountains at 8500ft and am about a 30 min drive from any entertainment and I work 20 mins away). My neighbor has a little tracker with a lift on it and it looks sweet. I do like these cars so I would like to get one along the lines of it.

My main question was would it be worth it to buy it or do you think at that age repairs would wreak havoc on my low budget?

At your budget anything you buy is gonna be dated and possibly need repairs. I don't know much about sidekicks but if it's a car you truly like then I won't try to steer you onto other cars.

Hopefully maybe someone here has owned one or knows more on them..

Thats what I was hoping. My budget is about $3000 but I saw this and wondered if the price was worth it.

Thanks for the help but I don't think I could afford the gas on those things. The sidekick is 4cyl and Neighbors '94 gets 32mgg. A samurai is a good Idea. I will have to look at them.

Yeah, the samurai is basicly a sidekick, but more "Offroadable"

"
The SJ-Series was introduced to the United States (Puerto Rico (SJ-410) and Canada earlier) in 1985 for the 1986 model year. It was priced at just $6200 and 47,000 were sold in its first year. The Samurai had a 1.3 liter, 63 hp (47 kW), 4-cylinder engine and was available as a convertible or a hardtop. The Suzuki Samurai became intensely popular within the serious 4wd community for its extreme off road performance and reliability compared to other 4wds of the time.
The Samurai is also considered a great beginner 4wd due to its simple design and ease of modifications with engine swaps and suspension upgrades. " - wikipedia
