Just ordered my first bass from John. Getting 3 Peru Monos. They should be here wednesday and I cant wait. Got the 280 waiting for their new home and grow out tank. Any tips or input?
Keep the water warm (84-86 degrees) and keep their bellies full when they are juvies. Those two things are the two biggest and easiest things that someone can mess up on to lose cichla.
Congrats! Johns peruvian mono's are always nice. As stated juvie cichla like and need warm water...86-89 and heavily airated. Keep em fat. I would try feeding em a frozen bloodworm/brine shrimp mix. THen eventually once they are eatin that really good start crushing up pellets into the mix so they get used to em. And gradually increase the amount of pellets. Keep us updated w/ pics of the new arrivals
Got the three in the mail this morning around 11 and had them swimming around in the 280 a little after noon. The just ate 3 dozen guppies between the 3 of them. Sweet!! Faster than a bullet. I will try and get some pics. Thanks John.
