Is it normal to wake up and find 1 out out 5 Doviis dead? The 2 biggest are about 3 inches, two smallest about 1 1/2, the dead one in between. all the skin, tails and eyes are gone. Did they kill him?

Yup, sounds like it. What size tank do you have them in? Always make sure to provide plenty of hiding spots when you are growing out aggressive cichlids like Dovii.

Maybe it was due to pecking order. If you have a dominant male he could have taken out the competition. I'm not sure if this is the case but I've seen it happen with other cichlids. Sorry for your loss.

ya i agree with gruff master. in my past experience i had 5 dovii all that were about 1-2 inches long. the dominant male killed off the rest of them. he did pair up with a female for about 2 months but then he eventually killed her too. just make sure you have a lot of hiding spots. these guys get big so hopefully you have them in a big tank too. that might help the situation. they are very territorial.

they do that

no...
i dont think they killed him.

Just curious - What size body of water are planning on keeping 4 Dovii let alone 5 ???

I recently read an article from a guy who calls himself the "Cichlid Madman" basically a guy claiming to be all knowing - the article was about raising and breeding Dovii in 75 gal. of water. To those of us who own/have owned Dovii this is absurd.
