im getting a bigger tank tommorow and im having it in my bedroom, its 6x2x2. would the main structure be able to be the blocks stacked in each corners (flat side) up to 60 cm (10 cm high each) and then the same in the middle baybe two stacks evenly apart on the back wall and one stack in the middle at the front between the doors which im gonna make. this seems to be cheapest as ive already got them and also easier than building a wooden frame and also more sturdy.... OPINIONS PLEASE :D

Hello; I know that concrete blocks are not safe to use to hold up a car, but your 180 will weigh between 1800 and 2160 pounds which is less than most cars. you also plan to use several stacks so the weight will be spread over more than four points. As for as suggestions, three came to mind.
First is that boards or a sheet of plywood be placed on top of the cement blocks and under the tank. (Some have also posted of having a layer of dense foam under a tank, I believe this is to help keep any potential high spots from cracking the tank.) (Perhaps someone who has done this will post about it?)
Another is to place the cement blocks in their strongest orientation. I believe this is the way they would go if a part of a wall, which is with the holes facing up??
Last is that the cement block stand be as level a possible with all the stacks as close to the same height as possible.
I have not used cement blocks as a stand for a tank as big as you have, so do not know what the actual problems may turn out to be. Let us hope someone with actual experience will post.

hey man, thanks for the time. and as for the blocks, they are solid rectangles, there is no holes in them, but i know what you mean. mine are different, they are solid and i presume a lot stronger :) thanks for the input

I use breeze blocks under my tank have done for years all I do is cut some kitchen work surface to the length of the tank and have the tank on the worktop on the blocks. Never had any problems

My stand for my 6'x2'x2' is three stacks on breeze blocks, with three timber 2x4s and a mdf board on top. Seems to hold up nicely

Question is..Is the floor strong enough to hold the extra weight of the block. I'd check the floor joists for strength. Maybe shore them up with blocks too.

it will work, just make sure before you add water, that tank is LEVEL.......Good luck

Hey I am going to do a block stand for my 72x24x20 and then build one out of 2x4's for my 72x24x24. Does anyone have the complete run down on how they would do this block stand, step by step? I know its not too complicated but I have block and I have the tank. Ready to get started! Thanks much!
