hi, i have a female johanni that is pregant so i put her into a seperate tank. The next day she had spat out her babies, they still have part of their egg connected to them but are trying to swim around.
Is this normal?
What should i do now? Should i put the female back into the main tank so she does not eat the babies?
any help will be great

i don't know why she did that but they usually split them out after mostly 21 days .. and in that stage they ll be free swimming ...

so is there any thing happened abnormally ??

and how long they are in her mouth ?

---------

tc man that can be normal cus @ final days she let them get outside for a walk :) then back again in her mouth ..

keep eye on her if she haven't them back in her mouth for a long strip her ( to make sure that there is no more babies )

than back to the main tank ..

Sounds like they still have their yolk sacs. I'm not experienced with african cichlids. Good luck with the fry.

Hi. Don't worry. Yolk fry or wigglers would usually survive out of the mom's mouth provided that a mild aeration is supplied. The mother must have undergone some stress when transferred and caused her to spit the yolk fry out. If you have a hatching jar, you can always strip the eggs of mouth brooders and hatch them artificially.
