I bought a new albino oscar (3") from petsmart a week ago. Still shy and sulking but starting to come around. I don't have a quarantine tank. He/she is solo in a 75 gallon. My ammonia meter shows 0 but I'm out of testing strips. It was hard to tell cuz it's an albino, but it did finally notice small white spots on its fins and a few white spots on the body (damn u petsmart). No scraping or shaking yet, but it was stickin itself to one the intakes a few days ago (not sure if it's relevant). I've only had one case of ich years ago which is used Rid-Ich, but I've heard this method may be safer.

From the info I've been able to read on the posts and threads, this is what I've done so far. I just did a water change (30%). I went with 1 teaspoons per gallon of aquarium salt (added/dissolved) to new water. Gradually raised temp to 86 degrees. Increased oxygen level. Now what do I do from here on? I'm seeing conflicting advice. Is there a need to do daily water changes (redosing for new water added) or should I just leave it just the way it is for 7-10 days. Thanks a bunch.

Do you have pics of the white spots? Are they exactly well defined white spots or white fuzzy spots? And no, you cannot see ich sticking on anywhere else but the fish otherwise you are NOT seeing ich on the intakes at all but mere coincidence of other things involved.

Do water changes daily and don't forget to redose salt per water volume changed. Failing water changes will simply cause your fish to succumb quickly to ich as the poor water quality can take its heavy toll on the fish's immune system.

No...all I got is a crappy camera phone. There not fuzzy....hard to see cuz it's an albino. But I do see them along its lateral line and pectoral fins. Cool...I'll keep up with the daily w/c with redosing the volume changes....thanks
