I had been a avid Catfish and Aro fan for years,but lately i have been peeking in here on you guys,so i decided to take the plunge head 1st and got a couple of 6-7" gars at 1st i thought that they were short nosed,but now that i look at them they resemble "Florida Gars",i will post some pics as soon as possible.

Once you get them you will get hooked....

and yes, you most likely have floridas as they're the most common in the hobby. especially if you didn't specially get shortnose gars. do post pics and good luck with the gars!:cool:
 
Either FL or Spotted. Its my understanding that they are almost impossible to tell apart but the more knowledgable gar experts here are better with ID than I...
 
you can assume florida gar unless you know its locality, which i'm assuming you don't. eitherways it doesn't make a difference, as the general captive requirements for both species are mostly similiar. good looking fish, but might wanna add some floating plants for it to hide among. good luck:cool:
