Hey guys...when I get started on the pond structure...how should i heat a whole pond this big? i want to make it heat up to atleast 78* F....if i bought some 300 watt heaters...how many would i need? or is their any heaters for the pond like in Homedepot? I don't want to be spending way to much just to heat it with too many 300 watt heaters, also i want to put the heater(s) in the pond filter so i can't have any type of heater in the actual pond itself since my catfishes and or other cichlids and arowanas will probably run into it and break it which would cause a catastrophy...any ideas? also one more thing how many watts would i need in total?

Look into a hot tub heater. You've been talking up this pond for months, any progress yet?

oh ok, and have some stuff done...im just getting everything i need and start building and start cycling it...i had about 6 weeks with no progress due to all the test and afterschool meetings and had many things to do with moving most of my aunties stuff out since she's moving to a home by herself

so far we got the many bags of cement, some filter media, and some 55 gallon tank as a filter, and getting the main filter for ponds soon...and just need a net for the top so my arowanas don't jump out, got the lights already, now i just need the heater and the acrylic glass

Try this calculator, but remember this is for a glass tank not a concrete one so you may actually need more wattage, depending on insulation and liner.

Bderick67 is online with the hot tub heater (look for them used), temperature regulation can be problematic unless you have a large sump (Hot tub temps aren't that critical so thermostats very a percentage not just several degrees, tho better controllers are available).

A piece of advice...In the future try to keep one post running for your pond questions & updates so it's easier to reflect on previously posted stats & questions (as in this post I gathered (assumed:WHOA:) it's a 2000g cement tank, but that's all I know without trying to dig up old threads or asking you to repeat yourself). This actually goes out to everyone posting a project.

We all are anxious to see this project to fruition :headbang2.

Keep us updated,

aquaticeco.com has large heaters... your gonna want a few thousand watts..

cost wise i would get two 6000kw spa heaters from grainger with thermostats under $200 each....... two for reliability

make sure to insulate the the tank as its not built yet....the in cold weather use a insulated cover over about 75%........
