I know there are a million threads on stealth heaters but i couldn't find this answer. I am going to run two stealth heaters on my 100g just in case one breaks. Should i get 2 (200w) or 2 (250w)...price difference between the two is only like $1 each.

I hear the stealth heaters have a lot of electrical problems...I know a few people who have gotten a jolt when they put the hands in the water.

I run 7 of them now. All on seperate tanks and have for over a year. Only one had an issue and it was second hand.

To the OP Id say two 150's as 12 volt man suggested. Or two 200's if you really think its necessary.

Maybe i'll do one 150w and one 200w, a variety would be nice if i use them in different tanks later on.

And would rather have two 150w, a 150w & 200w, or one Fluval E Series 300w (and a pos back up just in case, but not in the tank)?

I hate seeing people spread rumors based on "I heard"...

I've used Stealth heaters exclusively for 5+ years and keep many fish tanks... I've never had one create stray current or cause a jolt...

Sure there are some people who cause a stray current via user error but this cannot be blamed on the manufacturer... It's also possible for there to be the occasional manufacturing error, but I'm very confident that they are very uncommon in stealth heaters...

For many years I've used: 2W per gallon when the desired water temp is 10~18*F warmer than the air temp (for example: 80*F water in a 62~70*F room)... 1W per gal when keeping the water 1~10*F warmer than the air temp...

I use a single 250W Stealth heater in my 125 gal and find the temp stays very constant at 80*F, even in the winter...

When you use a heater that is considerably larger than needed... it will turn on/off much more frequently. This can/will cause this feature to wear out faster... thus resulting in a heater that does not turn itself off.

This is a very common user error that results in quality heaters being blamed for killing fish... when in reality user error is the deadly issue...

Be caerful who you take suggestions from...

^I have read here and other places that 2-3W per gallon is just fine. With that said, i have noticed that the recommended gallons listed on the packages seems to equal out to about 3.3-3.7W per gallon. Not saying i believe everything written on a package it's just something i've observed.

I prefer the Ebo Jagers (with a heater guard if you have big fish) because they have the indicator light that I am so used to.

but the slealths 'blend in' in you have a black background, whereas the Ebo's stand out..

so...the choice is yours.

but the Ebo Jager and the Stealth are the two most popular heaters going...
