Okay so iv been researching and planing a planted cherry shrimp tank. Iv got substrate figured out I have a scape drawn out on paper. Plants sort of figured out. Today I realized that I'm going to rip my current tank apart, spend a bunch of money for a setup I'll run for as long as the substrate lasts and I really don't like my tank. It's a fluval flex 32.5. It's a bad design. I have good things to say about the 15's but the 32.5 is just, ... I don't like it. I have to move all my live stock when I rip the tank apart to reshape it. It's kind of like renovating a house once you go down that rabbit hole...

I'd like to breed my shrimp very successfully because #1 I like shrimp! And, I liked to have more. #2 I have a good relationship with a LFS from my Appisto breeding days where I exchange live stick for story credit for supplys. I'm not trying to make money but It does off set the cost of my hobby

So I'm torn between doing 2 20ish gallons side by side or a 40 gallon allowing me to keep permamiters more stable longer. Maybe. It's the same amount of shrimp in either two tanks or one.

I'd like to know what you would do? Would you prefer two separate setup systems side by side or just one big jungle?

Any opinions welcome. Thank you!!!

Shrimp won't throw your parameters off in a 20. You don't need a 40 to keep them more stable. If it were me I'd even do 4 10 gallons, that way you can breed more varieties. The smaller the tank, the more dense your plants will get, and the more they'll breed. If you want to breed shrimp to sell, I wouldn't scape it, as you're gonna be tearing it up to get shrimp out anyway. Just get hornwort and either subwassertang or java moss, the latter depends on your water. Some people have more luck with java moss over subwassertang and vice versa, but the main goal is just to have some dense plant that fills out the bottom half of your tank. Hornwort will fill out the top and keep your nitrates down just for good measure.

Thank you. I appreciate your input. I guess when I was talking about parameters I was referring to the frequency of water changes. My priority is having a beautiful planted tank full of shrimp for my enjoyment. I never made much money off my appistos. After you factor in the amount of time and attention it takes to set the tank up properly. Run a baby brine shrimp farm. Separate the male when he decides to start eating his kids. Your not making money at that point. Your just off setting your hobby costs a bit. I do like to bounce ideas off people though because I like to research everything I do very thoroughly. I do appreciate your input. I hadn't thought about doing 4 tens.
