Hey guys,
I just bought a 2-3 inch Indo Datnoid yesterday,
This datnoid is normally fed (live) river shrimps, bloodworms etc. (at the store).
My question is, shall i try to get him on pellets now? or shall i feed him frozen bloodworms for the time being, until hes a bit bigger? (i am using tetra prima (slow sinking) pellets/granules)
I heard that rolling pellets in mashed garlic attracts them to eat the pellets, is that safe and true?

Thanks in advance,
Swarsh.

dont know about the garlic thing you said never heard of it...but yes you can start with grains....the sooner u start the better it is...

Thanks for replying,
Yeah I read it on quite a few forums/posts that garlic does help... but don't know if its true or even safe to do so.
At the moment my Dat is not eating yet, probably still scared/unsettled.
So is it worth starving/not feeding it anything until he takes the granules/pellets?

Thanks,
Swarsh

fishes can easily stay that way for a few days no problem bro.........
if the fish is really starving it will surely eat pellets

I'd lettem feed on bloodworms etc etc till he gets acclimated to your tank for a week or so.. keepem happy.. then yes you could attempt to convert him over to pellets later... Don't try right away... There have been a few people here who have lost fish to stubborn starvation.. and a starving fish + the stress of a move to a new tank can equal all kinds of issues... death or more than likely a disease since his immune system will take a hit from the stress and being hungry...

The garlic method does and can work.. Seachem sells Garlic Guard and Kent has another Garlic concentrate you could buy or you can just chop up garlic add a little water and soak the pellets for a few minutes in them =) You'll smell like you went to Louisiana for a while =P

~Thanks all for the replies~
I've decided to give him prawns for a while, he goes absolutely nuts for them!
I'll most proabably give him a 1-2 weeks or so before i attempt the pellet training!
ahh, so garlic does work :P i tried soaking pellets in bloodworm juice, but that didnt work.. haha~

Thanks all,
Swarsh

Good to hear he is eating shrimp =) Much easier to go from Shrimp to pellets than live to pellets =)
