I was just think that this would be a cool cheap project for my 2nd woods project. I just need to find the plans, I already have the rough idea on how to do it but I'd like to find the plans somewhere. If anyone could help It would be greatly appreciated. Btw It will be freshwater and for triops. I will run a redsea nano filter on it as well with pfs as substrate.

I'm going to not make it a hinged hood just solid and lifts up to get inside the tank. Make the entire back open. I'm just unsure on what to use for waterproofing the inside. I know that polyurethane would work but I don't think that it is fish safe. Any suggestions on what to use?

Would putting a film of silicon on the inside of the wood be a good idea?

You can use polurethane as long as its not going to be submerged. Or paint the inside with Kilz, or use DryLock waterproofer.

Within the next few days I'm going to get the 2.5 at petsmart.
