I might be setting up a 2.5 gallon mini reef and want to know what corals would be ok in this size tank. Also I would like to know what kind of lighting I would need.

maybe consider upgrading to a 10 or so. will be easier to keep salt stable and water clean. would be A TON easier to do a 55 or so.

hmm
corals dont realy need anymore than light and food. as long as its not big and taking up your whole tank it should be fine
your going to need lots of water changes though
mabey a damsel also

NOT a fish can go in here nothing period. IT will be harder because it is so small even the smallest amount of evaporation will change your salt. But lighting youl need about 10w which i dont no where u are going to find that. GL but try and go biger if you can

I would also suggest bigger. There are a few people on this forum doing 10 gallons and those are working out very well. Still need to watch them and keep them full but otherwise a lot easier then a 2.5 It wont cost much more either and you might as well buy a bucket of salt and keep the lid on tight. Thats the best bang for your buck. Use RO water too, this will help keep the water cleaner.

evaporation doznt evaporate salt with it
that was the first thing i learned when i started salt
idk where u got that from
mabey its true
but ive never heard of salt evaporating with water

No but that size tank will evap quickly, concentrating the salt & fluctuating the SG throught the day greatly. I have a 15g nano that I top off w/fresh RO water 2x/day.

Reveres osmosis takes alot of chemicals out of the water

Actually, it removes chemicals but also nitrates & any dissolved solids, so all you have is pure, H2O. Otherwise, you will have algae problems.
