Yes, both males.The females are smaller than males of an equivalent age. The males are blockier, with a steeper forehead profile and larger, more pointed dorsal and anal fins. Also he's somewhat more colorful. In addition, some of my females have a dark patch in the front of the dorsal fin, the male not. Here's a couple of pics of a pair. This female does not have the patch in this pair.

I never know that a Vieja species can be an aggressive glass banger. I have synspillum, melanura, fenestratus and bifas, and they are on the shy side. The only time they bang their head on the glass is when they are startled
 
I have some coming in the mail tomorrow if all goes as planned. Can't wait to grow them out now hah.
