Gone fishin...
I found a multistage canister filter with built in UV sterilizer. Filter is capable of handling up to 525 gallons per hour with 4 flexible media trays that come packed with Filter Cotton, activated bamboo carbon, ceramic rings and Bio-Balls.. I found it for $119.95.

Is that a good price? I think so. I'm asking; since I have a messy Oscar cichlid and a big JD. Should I buy 2 of them or will one be enough? Brand new tank is 150 gallons.

What brand filter is this? And can you give a link to look at it?

OK... So is it possible to "Over Filtrate" an aquarium?

Nope, the number of bacteria will adjust to the bio load. as long as the fish is good with the outflow of the canister it should be good.

That's awesome.

I just got mine all setup last night. Damn these things are powerful! I used the spray bars at first but quickly realized this limited the water flow. So now I have the water outlets fitted with a jet-ends, angled towards the water surface.

They cycle the 150 gal. aquarium a total of 1060gph! and they came packed with LOTS of filter media. Had a 'lil trouble getting the syphon started.. but my buddy and I got it going eventually.

I made a larger cave from the existing Jack Dempsey's PVC cave and placed huge slate-rock on top and all around it. I'll post a u-tube vid once I get My O' and JD in there :headbang2
