So, my CK has this habit of scowering the bottom for bloodworms (he eats like crazy) and almost all the time, he picks up a rock and starts thrashing! He eventually spits it out, but It worries me that he might swollow it.??? Anybody else ever see that?

Next, what size do they usually start eating other fish? He's about 5" inches, and I bought him some rosey reds (tiny ones) but he isn't interested. He's about the most docile creature I've ever seen. He also likes me, and he knows when it's feeding time. He comes up to the top and I hand feed him BW's. I assume that will change once he gets bigger? but when...

he's in a 75g with some rainbows, angels, 8" pleco, planted, 25%wc 2x a week, perfect water perams.

typically from the CKs ive had, if they cant swallow something theyll spit it back up, or if there big enough the object can be expelled threw its gills.

Theyll eat fish at any size really, but if its eating other foods you dont want to get it on Live food. I spend time breaking CKs an RCKs from the live food diet an only throw live food in every so often to give them a lil hunting time.

You should try an see if he'll eat foods like frozen Krill, Plankton, an small pieces of fish.
Ive gotten every CK an my current RCK to eat pieces of Shrimp an tilapia fillet.

I agree. If he's not eating live food there isnt much of a reason to try. Give him some shrimp and smelt (along with pellets) and watch him grow:)

They will definately eat anything that can fit in their mouth if they are hungry.

Hey and if you dont like him scouring the gravel, and u dont want him to choke on any pebbles, do you and your CK a favor and get Sand. It's expensive compared to gravel, for the good sands, but the fish wont choke, the sand is easier to clean, and its more attractive IMO.

That's a nice looking knife. Those were my thoughts exactly. Now is the time to "re-vamp" the tank. I REALLY like the look of this gravel/sand mix! I think that's what I'm going to do. I know it doesn't really solve the "what if he chokes" bit, but The more I've watched him doing this, the less I think he'd actually try to swallow it.

The Gravel/Sand mix looks really nice. I have a tank with that set up and I enjoy the look of it. It's definitely a good thing that your CK is loving the frozen food rather than live. If you give it a taste of live, it may not want to go back to frozen or any other type of non-living foods. I feed live occassionally. But my CK just loves FD Krill with the rest of the guys in the tank. None of them will touch pellets. :irked:

My clown is addicted to Worms of all colors size and species.. he loves worms, dillies, and crawlers, bloodworms, anything! he eats pellets if he finds them, even brine shrimp pieces... Hes a damn good eater, but i think i may trade him in soon.. who knows tho.

Also real nice Lungfish, i do believe..

yeah, mine loves worms. Actually, that's pretty much all he'll eat. He ignores: plankton, brine shrim, flake and pellets. Thankfully, all the others like that stuff, so it ALL gets eaten! He stuffs himself on the worms though. It's funny cause most of my other fish are a little skittish, but he comes right to me. I love it!

well, sure enough. I came home today and noticed my CK was a little "portly" in the belly. So I did a head count on the roseys, and sure enough, the smallest one is "missing". HA! I noticed the last 2 days he's been noticing them more and more, and he's growing like a weed. I think he's finally realizing he's one of the bigger fish in the tank. Only outsized by a giant ghost angelfish and a pleco. Now if he'd just finish the rest of them off, I'd have less waste producers and food consumers...
