my gf just bought me a clown knife baby on thursday and it was the most active one in the tank at the LFS, but now its laying on its side and only moves when i poke it but only to lay down again and drift with the current!

he was active last night and the day before atleast he was wading water in place in his den while the lights were on cause i know they're nocturnal but are they sapposed to lay down? it looks to be dying, i know it hasen't eaten in the time i had it but its a carnivorous fish that should be fine if it hasn't eaten in a few days whats going on??

help ASAP!

was the problem fixed?

I have an RCK that lays on it's side underneathe a piece of driftwood, but the way you describe, it doesn't sound good. Water parameters? Filtration? How long has the tank been set up?

retuks i would up temp to 85 shot a half dose of melafix for your tank size~ get him in either a plastic breeder hangon or the net one. the closer hes to the surface the easier he can surface, and straighten out while pretty much resting on the breeder box.

when i got my rescue free p afer , he was basically like your knife at the lfs tank...even worse since ALL his fins were like those neat scissors that make patterns~ from the puffers he was with.i transfered this afer to 10 gallon FRESH media in ac30 , water from one of my stable knife tanks. did the above.

hope your knife pulls through.. there usually fighters :)
