yep, 2 dead rams in 2 days. their living in absolutely pristine water, fed extremely well, been fine for weeks, beautiful color and everything.

1 started flashing and looking lethergic a few days ago, the other was perfectly fine until last night, now within a few hours their both dead. no ray damage, not a single scale out of place.

my retic ray, blood-parrot, jellybean and gourami in the tank are all normal and actively feeding. any ideas wth gives??

im rather pissed since one of them was the lone female blue ram i had. and every single shipment of rams both LFS i use get are always males.:irked:

75g tank, temp holds between 81 and 82, 2 ac110 and an xp3 for filtration. 30% -/+ water changes weekly....fully mature tank:confused::confused::confused:

blue rams are severely hard to keep and do not live very long.. if these fish were from the asia strains then they were probably hormone fed. They could also just simply have been old.. but yeah.. if the stock you get from your lfs is from asia you may want to find a diff supplier

If you've just had them for a couple weeks, they could have had something internal, for example parasites. Did you ever see what their feces looked like? Was it white and stringy looking?

uh stress from the stingray..

and probably the blood parrot too..

nope...the fish and rays get along great. only the jelly and the parrot chase each other. the other guys chill near the ray, and wait for him to blow up some food

and as far as i could see, there wasent any un-normal waste in the tank. however, stuff dont have a chance to sit before getting taken into a filter. so i could have just not seen

UPDATE

i moved some caves/rocks and found some waste. found some stingray crap that had a long, white stringy looking tail on both sides of it. almost looks like a really poorly wrapped piece of sausage:confused:

im guessing i have some unfavorable issues to deal with? i dont forsee a stingray being easy to treat.

Moved to the health section. Shame about the waste- is it still the only thing you think it could be?

I still think the ray stressed the rams.. they do best in a heavily planted tank with fish like cardinals and neons.. They probably couldn't sleep/rest with those tankmates.

You said the water was pristine..so..:confused:

i dont get it either, unless its some sort of internal parasite.

since the waste wasent looking right, im dosing metronidazole into their food, in hopes that may take care of anything internal.

hopefully this is the right route to go?
