In a dream
Ok so i noticed there are 2 different types of jager heaters.

All black with button
http://www.aquacave.com/200w-jager-aquarium-heater-928.html

Black/Silver with no button

http://www.bigalsonline.com/Jager-Heater_9799681_82.html

One thing i noticed is that some online stores sell the black one and some sell the black/sliver one but i havent come across a site that sells both.

My question is what is the difference between the two? Is one a old model and the other the new model? Which is the better one? Which is the heater that everyone talks about? I never knew their was more than one model till now.

I have been using JEbo-JAger heaters since the 1980's.......Untill the late 1990's, the heater was colored green........There has always been one basic model, but of different wattage.....I have looked at both heaters, stick with the first one.........I have owned many Jebo-Jager heaters that are 5 years old and are doing perfectly.........

I like the buttonless one

2nd link one is new model. i bought 2 of the new ones and was very disapointed. stick with the older models.

Thx for the info guys. Unfortunately i already have the new one. Got a brand new 200 watt off CL for $15. I have couple questions and feel stupid for asking but i want to be sure it is working correctly.

1. When i took it out of the box i wanted to set the temp so i adjusted the red arrows at the top of the heater. There are 2 red "arrows". I assumed I needed to use the bigger arrow but when i looked at the pic in the instructions it looks like the smaller arrow? It could be one of those things where the pic is not accurate but i wanted to be sure.

2. So i adjusted the red arrows then i realized i could turn the whole blue knob on the top of the heater to adjust the temp. Did i screw up the calibration by doing that? I should have turned the knob to begin with instead of messing with the arrows.

If anyone has any help or advice please let me know.

Also sorry for all the heater questions but i have baby cichla which are prone to ich and definately want to get my heater going to prevent that. Thanks in advance.

After looking at the heater again im sure the arrow to use is the bigger side. The opposite side is like a notch but just got confused when i looked at the pics in the instructions.

But i really think i messed something up by moving the arrow first then the knob. The water in the tank feels really cold. I set it to 84 yesterday. I tried to contact Eheim with 2 different email addresses but both were invalid.

I found these instructions in the operator manual

Recalibration
If, after a day or two in operation the setting scale does not correspond to the water temperature, follow the following procedure to recalibrate the heater:
Switch off the heater and unplug it from the mains supply

Measure the water temperature with an accurate thermometer

Turn indicator arrow (red) to point to the measured temperature

Set the desired tank temperature with the temperature selector ring (blue).

Hope this helps. Please be sure to use an accurate thermometer when recalibrating the heater.
