I have a 150 72x18 that I wanna divide in half (as suggested by freshwaterpredators).

A 3.5" nasty male Umbee on one side, and a 3.5" (dominant) male festae on the other side.

My question is, will they both stay dominant and color up or one of them will become sub-dominant even with the divider on?

This was suggested as a method to make my Umbee less shy because he hides from me as soon as I get close... but he kills everything I put in the tank including a male JD, a breeding pair of convicts, 6 black skirt tetra, 2 crayfish and one columbian shark catfish (they were all too big for him to eat, he just left the bodies floating).

Only other choice is a 6" male salvini with a 4" female (breeding pair) but he's too big... I'm afraid the umbee would just be more scared.

In my expirience since they are divided, they will both feel safe from any harm from the other and both will show aggressive dominance. Mine have eaten more, colored up sooner, and grew faster with this method. The only way for you to know what will happen is to try for yourself. Give it a try for at least a month before making a decision.
