I bought my 75 gal about a year ago from a friend and he had 2 fluval 404's which I still have and plan to use. Is this 2 much filtration for my 75?

IMO no depending on what your putting in the tank. Id have the Intakes near the middle an a discharge on each end. Should be a good setup

IMO you can never have to much filtration. I have 3 fluval 404's on a 90gl and all I have in it are three 4.5'' retic pups and eight 1'' geophagus orange heads.

Well I have one fluval on each side the one on the left had the intake towards the out side of the tank and the right side has the intake facing the inside of the tank. The amount of hose that i have isnt enough to set it up how you recommend BUT Can i move the suction cups in a way that both would be in the middle?? Im gonna take a pic and post.

I have 1 Fluval 404 on my 75g and I was think of getting another.

I was worried about sand getting to the impeller and I think i got a solution. check it out.

I do the pre-filter deal on my 75 also, that sand gets in everything!

Not sure how fluvals work, but on my rena's the pump is after all the media, so sand isn't a threat. Either way, canisters should be prefilterd anyway, to reduce the frequency of cleaning it out.

Those two fluvals will at most turn the tank over 7 times an hour (5-6 is more likely after media goes in and they start clogging.) That's good enough for a tank that isn't stocked heavy, but far from having to much filtration. Honda is right, there's never to much filtration, just to much water movement for some fish. (I turn my 75 over 18-20x an hour, but I house plecs in it.)
