Are 2 Fluval 405s sufficient filtration for a 150 gallon tank with

1 - 12" Florida Gar
1 - 10" Tropical Gar
6 - 8" Polys
4 - 6" Datnoids

i dont see why not the 405's are met for a 100 gal tank so 2 should be good, i have a buddy thats got 2 fluval 405's in a 125 and it works just fine.

Id go with the FX5 not only for the added flow but for better mechanical filtration and as far as I know more media. I read a lot about people that are successful using 1 FX5 than I do two 405 Dont get me wrong though you have the advantage of an extra filter should something happen. Also you can put one 405 on each side of the tank. Ultimately this would be a very tough decision for me.

My conclusion is get the FX5 (And a 405) :)

i would suggest get one FX 5 and one 405 if u can afford it...i use a FX 5 and Eheim 2028 pro 2. all i got is a 1 little 7'' stingray and 3 little 6'' bichirs in my 120.

u got a lot of monster fish in there IMO:
1 - 12" Florida Gar
1 - 10" Tropical Gar
6 - 8" Polys
4 - 6" Datnoids

u could use the extra filtration! plus u will have a back up filter just encase something goes terribly wrong with one.. accidents happen and its nice to be prepared..u could also alternate maintenance so u will lose minimal BB

I run twin Rena XP3's and an AC110 on my 150 with a soon to be big bioload from 4 lemonfin barbs.

the XP3's are about the same size/flow as the fluval 405's..
And whats the flow on a XP3?
