I originally wanted to turn my 55 Gallon tank into a sump, but if my tank does not come drilled, I don't want to drill it myself and tear down a perfectly fine set up (with stands/hood/filter/etc) to turn it into a sump, not to mention the huge DIY that I'll have to do (plumbing, chambers for sump, etc)

So the cheapest/easiest alternative would be to buy 2 FX5s and 2 Koralia 4s for circulation.

How does that sound for a heavily stocked 180G Mbuna tank (around 100 fishes)

i know some one on anothe forum who has two heavily stocked mbuna 180 each with 2 fx5's so should be fine

2 fx5's should do a good job

I would say add two more AC 110 but that's just me.

You should be good to go.

I think that is good. To give you an idea, I run one FX5, 4 HOB filter (3 rated at 400GPH+, and one at 100GPH+) on my 180 WITH TWO 6"-10" motoro stingray and nitrates are always around 5-10 ppm.

On one of my 180 gallon 6x2x2 tanks,i run 2 fx5's..2 Eheim 2213's..1 Fluval 405..and a HUGE powerhead,with a Vecton V2 600 UV Sterilizer.

No way that's cheap.

He is good with two FX5.
