I am trying to decide if I should put both outputs on the right and left side of the back corners of the tank and the intakes more towards the middle or doing it the other way around with the intakes at the corners and the outputs more in the center.

I am in the same boat. I currently have 2 FX5's on a standard 100g. Right now I have it crossed. Intakes on the outside and outputs on the inside. With this setup, I have noticed great circulation with no need for surface agitation. That being said, because I have "slacked" on cleaning the FX5's (over 6 months), that they are struggling on picking up the large poops my umbees leave.

I was going to clean them out soon and keep the setup the way it is, but am leaning towards making it a one-way turbulation. Both intakes on one side and both outputs on the opposite end.

I think its personal preference though, either way. Whats the stock list? And are you going for habitat simulation or maximum tank circulation?

The stock list is 2 Pacu and a Pleco.I am wanting the best circulation for the tank.

My suggestion then would be to put the outputs on each end of the tank. Then put the inputs in the middle next to each, but point them towards the the intake that its closest to. Make sure to cross the hoses so one output is pointing to the other FX5's intake.

Here is my current setup, hoses crossed. Once I clean them, I'll be doing the one-way flow setup.

I have 2 FX5's and an AC110 on my 150 with the intakes in the center and outflow 6" away from the corner with on nozzle aiming down and towards the glass and the other straight forward and upwards to create surface movement. I hardly ever have poop on the sand. the flow of the tank brings everything right to the intakes. this is with 10 cichla in the 7-12" range and a bicher.

I had a 125 for a while with two fx5s and i did both outputs on 1 side and both intakes on 1 side. I then was in needed of the fx5 and the 125 became a fx5 with two Ac110s

I just finished changing it up I put the outputs in each corner and the intakes in the middle but I didn't cross up the outputs.I didn't want to have hoses to long so thats why I did it that way.

Gotta look close here but i agree with everyone.... outputs on the ends n input on the middle i have heater in between outputs n inputs... Having my setup like this its worked like a charm....😉

I like the tank you have there Eli173 very nice I will post a pic here in a few but mine looks like yours but my intakes are closer together.I am pretty sure your tank is bigger then mine and you were able to space it out better.

It"ll still work fine.... On the ends what i did since each end has 2 outputs u can aim anyway the outside one of each side is aimed upwards to the surface and the inside ones are aimed toward the inlets.....
