2 gar dead

I had 4 Florida gar about 10-13 inches had them about 3 and half + years. I went on vacation for a few days but had people check on house so temps stay normal in house. But when I got back one was dead looked stuck behind the filter tube. thought that just sucked. Then the next morning another one died. I use rodi water and nitrate stay about 10-30ppm. I did get 3 of them at same time. I'm doubting its old age but any ideas?

It might be a bit cynical of me, but i'd be suspecting the person that fed your fish while you were away; could be overfeeding?

If not, no idea.

I told him no feeding. I feed before I left. Which it was 5 days. Iv done that before and they were fine. I do feed them live feeders. Never happened before but bad batch of fish?

Do you buy your feeders? Or breed them yourself?

Buy. 30-40 bite size feeders Iv tried to get them on frozen or fresh stuff a few times but they would rather die then eat it

Highest probability is that its been a bad batch of feeders, especially given how all 3 went quickly at the same time

Ya I'm thinking that too. Sucks.... Water readings all OK and normal. Another reason to not buy store feeders

79 corvette. Tank is 180 gallon was just 4 gar. They are in a 40 gallon now treating the last 2 with meds. They are not looking so good. Draining the 180 and gonna scrub stuff and new gravel
