but upgrade to something more than 2 feet wide

yeh but wat kinda gar have a 300 gallon ready / on its way so when they grow big enough/ too big chuk em in that.

All of the gar species that are native to Florida are very slow growing. You can house them in there for a long time. Just don't power feed them and you will be ok.
