Hi all I have a 12" or so red tailed giant gourami, I wanted to add a platinum giant gourami at around the same size, would they fight? The tank is not bare, its has lots of rock and my current gourami has a rock cave to sleep in. Oh and I asked the current owner of the other gourami and he told me it was pretty chill, like mine.

Mine did. My red tail actually killed my platinum. Red tail gouramis are more aggressive. I had them in a 220 and the red tail was about 11 inches and the platinum was about 9-10 inches

I kept a 20" platinum gourami for many years.

as he grew, I used to keep him with other large fish like tinfoil barbs and big redhooks.

but he would always attack, so I ended up keeping him by himself.

I think that is best for most gg's as most are very aggressive, especially as they get larger than their tank mates, which really doesn't take long.

I think you should either keep a few Giant Gouramis and not just 2, so its wither 3+ or 1, my RTGG is also aggressive.

I think I will get 2 more RTGG from another guy and then add this platinum one since I think he will be around for awhile. The two new ones though are 6-7". Will they hold up with my 12" one? Like I stated before this RTGG that I have right now is VERY peacful I have it with a lot of fish the smallest being 4.5". So in total I would have 4 GG in my tank.
