Has anyone had any success keeping two GT's in the same tank?

From what I've read, they're super aggro with each other, but can be semi-passive when alone or in community tanks that don't have other similar looking cichlids.

Can anyone chime in with experience?

TIA

if its 2 males no but 2 females or 1male 1female usually works out fine
:iagree: 100%

I see... that makes sense. How about keeping them in a community? Anyone with experience?

When I had one it was about 4-5" was in a community tank with Convicts, Firemouths, Texas cichlids and two male Jack Dempseys one 4-5" and one 3-4". The GT was peaceful with everyone except the smaller JD. It would chase and harass it to no end, until I pulled it from the tank.

Thanks you! I've got what I'm looking for.

I'm experimenting with keeping a GT in a community tank of peaceful fish i.e. clown loaches, angelfish, giant danios, exotic plecs, etc..

I've got two small juvies, they both seem like males because of the color.

They're seperated for now (they wanted to hurt each other). I only have two because the original one didn't have the yellow pectoral fins, then I found the second one at a different store, and it has them.

So I may divide my180g to keep both, or give away the one without the yellow pecs.

Its been my experience that if you have an agressive fish as your largest in a community tank, he will learn he is the king and bully the other fish.

If you have a fish that is larger yet passive, he will probably be much tamer.

Interesting. I'll be keeping him with the blue dempsey, and they both grow slowly, so I hope that takes care of it, but only time can tell what will happen.

I have a 4.5" GT in my cichlid tank and he is very passive. Definitely my favorite. I call him Tony The Terror.

I have 2 male GTs in my SA/CA community tank; the larger is around 9-10" the smaller(and older) is around 7". the tank they are currently in is 255gal but they were raised for 2 years together in a more modest 135gal 6 foot set up. There has been some aggro between them esp as the younger overtook the older one in size but now they mostly ignore each other. As far as their overall aggressiveness towards the other fish is concerned they are somewhere in the middle, don't go looking for fights but can hold their ground...
