CUrious if anyone has done this? 180gal tank, in progress, adding a hydor 300w on the return from the 2262. If a single 300w doesn't turn out to be enough I'd rather not add an intank heater so besides all of the connections and the weight of the heaters on the return is there any reason not to do it? I can get a little fancy with the return and I can support the heaters no issue.

No reason it wouldn't work. You could run them both in the same line or if you have 2 return pumps or 2 lines you could have one on each return.

I will have 2 returns, the 2nd will be from an fx6 but it uses a 1" return line so some diy would be needed to make the hydor work (5/8), the 2262 is 5/8 so plug and play.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I'm not sure how those heaters sense temperature bit if out is part of the heater body it is likely that when heater 1 is operating the water temperature will be warm enough to make heater 2 not turn on.

If the system is sensing heat from in the tank than this would be different and would work.

I like the hydors, I have one inline a 2217 and it works great. I have heard some horror stories with them, but I imagine that is true with all products.

Eventually going to add a controller anyways, but to start I am going to see if a single 300w will work by itself.
