Just wondering, how does that thing work? I clicked on the link and the stock photo is that of an outlet with a "timer" of some sorts.

Is it an actual wavemaker that you place inside the tank of is it a sort of a "timer."

It's a wave timer that turns on and off at intervals that you set. You plug the powerhead into the timer. It's used to "replicate the natural alternating rhythms of tides and currents".
