Hi all,
I've picked up 2 juvenile kelberi peacock bass together around 3 week ago from LFS. They are from same batch.
They are peaceful from day 1 without issue until today.
I found out One of the PB start chasing the other one. They look exactly same size around 5inch.
Is that very normal juvenile will chase or flight each other . Should I worry about this. Or just a short period?? Ornwhat should I do?
I can not see any big damage on their fin and body. Just keep chasing and hitting top water surface... please give some advise ..
Thanks everyone!!!!

Cichlids will fight. They are establishing the hierarchy. It may or may not calm down once they figure it out.

Happens with two. Most pbass keepers will suggest getting a bigger group to help spread the aggression out evenly. Then it means also means a bigger tank.

Wow those don’t look to be kels to me, but I’m no expert. If they are, they are some of the nicest ones I’ve ever seen. Perhaps hybrids of some sort?...

chichlas typically need to be in larger groups to spread out the aggression. Some people say odd numbers, others say 5 is the magic number. I know some people get away with it, and there is always an outlier but usually 2-3 is a bad situation for the less dominant.

I would say feed fairly often in smaller doses to lower aggression a bit and add some hides if you are not able to house a few more of them.

Thanks, so what should I do? Should I take out the aggressive one from tank or keep it like this and get them some time to adjust

With only 2 cichlids, your best bet is to separate them physically. If you are willing to see nipped fins and constant chasing, then see if they work it out.

If I put few Tinfoil barbs will it help??

Worth a shot, but cichlids really don’t get distracted if they’ve picked someone they hate. The only good target is more bass. The barbs would just make them feel more secure.
