2 mag 12 = 1 mag 24 ?

I am thinking add 1 more mag 12 or replace the mag 12 which i am using now with a mag 24.
My questions is will 1 mag 24 2400gph really equal 2 x Mag 12 (1200gph +1200gph)'s output ? which way is better ? thank you

2 Mag 12 are always better than 1 Mag 24

110 watts x 2 = 220 watts vs 265 watts
1120 gph x 2 = 2240 gph vs 1850 gph (at 5-ft head)

And like Jafrias said, if one quits on you, one still works until you get a replacement, instead of you have to get a replacement in a hurry if you only have one pump
