ok i have 2 male managuense in 2 different tanks which one do you think looks better the 14 incher shown first or the 9 incher in the last 2 pics? personally i think the 9 incher does because he gives off a gold to purple sheen most of the time but you choose.also why do you think 2 males look so differently?

The 9incher def. I always wondered why some had more of a leopard print over bigger black blotches with more prominent vertical stripes.
My managuense looked like your 14incher.

im not sure i ever believed in the gold morph jag but is it possible the smaller one is?

It is normal coloration, on both fish.
I have had a lot of Jags myself and they can look very different according to water quality, mood, tankmates, etc..
When you have a group of them, the most dominant ones will lighten up, and the lower ranking fish will be darker. I have some that will turn completely black when in the tank with more dominant fish.
The black squares can come and go very quickly, I have seen my fish lose their bars in a matter of minutes.

yes i agree with my larger one he does loose his black bars and blotches but his color is alot more white then the smaller one which is gold. the smaller one never changes.

I def vote for the 9incher

i have a jag- the purples an green hues you see will change over thier life cycle. some times its there, some times they're not. mine was almost completly black as a juvi- now looks alot like your 9 incher- but shes over a foot now. other times no stripes at all. awesome fish to keep either way.
