I am having a tank built 10 feet x 3 feet

Right now I have two pairs of Henlei that I am thinking of putting all, or 3 of them in the tank together.

I am worried about the males fighting so was going to sell on of the males and just place the trio in there.

I am also worried about bioload and want to keep it light in there. Would two males be to much for this tank?

I don't think the males will fight but you won't get both males breeding with different females. I think rays are like dogs when there are two males in the tank, they will both breed with the same females. Thats why i think Brents pups are sooooooo pretty, because both the male leo and henlei bred with his female leo.
As for the boi load i think you will be fine if you use a huge sump. Although you may find the tank is a bit narrow for a fully grown henlei.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to sell the one male I think. The male I want to breed the females is more Henlei looking and I like this. The other male is very Leo looking (and still up for debate). I kinda wanted the Trio idea anyway.

i would keep the 2 males in the same tank for a few months it will increase the chances of breeding

i had 1 male and 2 females but as soon as i added a smaller mature male the larger more mature male didnt fight he just thought he better breed now before the other male got their 1st

keep the 2 x males and 2 x female for as long as you can and at the 1st sign of fighting sell the spare male off

Completely disagree, sorry, I have several males in together with other females & my leos breed with leos, & my motoro's breed with motoro's... etc... My male motoro tries to breed with other females, but they will not have it

The more males you have in the tank the better chance of thewm breeding... I have ONE male that I will remove for several months & all my breeding slows, but once I add him back all the other males start showing off & breeding like MAD!!! Some male fight a little, but nothing compared to breeding...

It's o.k, i don't mind being wrong, but hybridation does occur a lot. For instance this guy had a male and female pearl but the pearl decided to breed with the Leo http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.potamotrygon.de/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpotamotrygon%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8
and this guy usually gets hybrids even though he has proper pairs in his tanks. http://www.amazonas-rochen.de/rochen/nachzuchten.html.

But there is a pattern with males mating when other males are added and taken away.

For the top link go skate news and then look down the list and you will see leo and pearl breeding

The funny thing is I have a motoro/henlei mix & my black rays try to mate with her & my motoros also breed with her, & all the other females beat her up if she's pregnant... I have four Leo girls & they will not have any ray but my male & they make him work for it...
