I seem to be on a roll here with the questions and I may have even more soon!!

Q1. I have heard that it is important to place a piece of styrofoam between the tank and the stand. I am planning a plywood build and want to build it as a single piece instead of a tank on a stand. Is it OK to do this??

Q2. I am thinking about undergravel cleaning in my new build. I thinking of having a raised floor in the bottom of my tank (something like a sheet of plastic with hundreds/thousands of small holes drilled in it) and put the gravel on top of the that raised floor. This will allow all my fish's waste to go through the gravel into the void. In this void area I will fit a bulkhead which will go straight to my external filter keeping the water and gravel very clean. Does anyone see any possible problems with this idea??

Thanks in advance :D

The styrofoam question will raise some pretty strong opinions for each side. I personally think it is a waste. As for an under gravel filter I think they are massive pieces of crap and you will end up pulling it out in a year.
