2 New Severums!!

i got this guy yesterday he's about 2.5". i think its just a green severum? only has one black band around his tale.

i went back today to buy another green severum and noticed a tank labled gold spotted severum does that sound right? or is it a red spotted severum? will the spots stay or go away as it matures? right now its the same size as the other. anyway to sex these guys? im pretty stolked about my purchase right now

you have a really nice baby green sev and a really nice baby gold sev.

as far as I know, there are no new strains of the gold variety available

but yours shows very good potential for great colour.

That is a red spotted gold severum, originally line bred in Singapore I believe. But that one doesn't have the full coloration, a beautiful fish nonetheless. Have fun raising these guys.

so it is actually a species, are these a little more rare then regular gold severums? will it keep all the red on its face and body as it gets older? you can't really tell in the picture but his whole face has red markings except what looks like a mask around his eyes. how do u sex them when they get a bit bigger? lol srry for all the questions

It's not a different species, still Heros severus like your green. There are other Heros species but these are not them. The red spotted gold severums are much more rare at this point but I wouldn't be surprised if they become more common than gold severums in the coming years due to their awesome color and growing popularity. I always say don't count on your fish to attain more color as they grow because you'll be disappointed when they don't color up, so my guess is it would keep it's color if you take care of it but don't count on it to color up.

so i house about 15 or so severums right now.. they are my favorite... that is a Red fire severum....it should deff keep its color... in keepeing severums i have come to see if they are fed well and taken good care of they only get prettier in time...i just ordered a couple Red fire sevs from NEcichlids... ive had them about a 2 weeks...
