So I'm convinced you can't keep a oscar for life in a 60gal. My friend on the other hand, thinks different. Apparently its fine to keep TWO oscars in a tank 1.2 metres long, 20 inches wide ( just over 45 cm wide ). With only sand substrate, no deco, and a 1500 litre rated powerhead with filter. Double 100 litres rated sponge filter, and a sump ( 20 litre bucket ) going to another sump full of hornwort. 50 percent water change weekly. What are your opinions.

I agree w/ you. I had a 13" Oscar in a 72g and it was too small for a large fish. Larger fish deserve more space and especially an active fish like an Oscar. The bio load was way too much and hard to keep up w/ for just 1 fish. Plus he was knocking off the glass lid and injuring himself.

LoL, back in the day I had two huge Os, two JDs and a couple of 15" plecos all jammed into a 55g. Didn't really do regular water changes either just added water for eveaporation. It's a wonder the fish survived.:(
