Hey guys I came home today and both my fish were swimming at the bottom of the tank and very very dark which isn't normal, and when I got closer the large one started swimming crazy all over the tank. We had a slight storm roll through here and looks like we lost power. Not sure for how long but it went back on 24 min before I came home ( clock was flashing 12:24 ). That means the filters, heaters, aerator, and lights most likely went out during that time. Could this cause the fish to get stressed out? Checked temps and temps are still at 81ish, so going to turn the heaters up for a few to get it higher.

I checked all my levels just as a precaution and the ammonia, and nitrites were correct, but ph was at 7.6, is this considered too high for these guys? If so what do you use to lower it?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure about the PH. but the loss of air/circulation in the tank will for sure cause stress.

People use battery operated air pumps. Not much u can do if ur not home when the power goes out tho

I wouldnt mess with the pH. I'm sure they would come back to there normal self soon. My cichla are all kept in Milwaukee tap water which is high in pH. Give them time.

Ive never messed with the pH so Ill leave it as is.

This morning the fish were both swimming toward the bottom of the tank again, kind of dark again, not sure if this was because I had just turned the light on and maybe startled them? They were acting fine last night after a bit so not sure what might be spooking or stressing them. Their tank mates are a small plecco, medium to larger rainbow shark, some misc algea eater and a snail lol
