my daughters best friends mom just showed me pictures of her sisters fish tank. it is a 180 with a 2' long rtc with a 20-22" id shark, both fish have been in the 180 for 10 years :eek::eek::eek::eek: they look to be very healthy, though obviously severly stunted, i never would have imagined they would live that long and be stunted that bad. amazing is the only thing i can come up with. that is one pair of resilient fish.

agreed. 10 years is still very young in rtc years! Especially since they can live to ????? who knows how long, but at least 35 years according to an aquarium that I visited once that told me they had their's that long. Was in Germany. Can't remember the name. Huge RTCs though.

my friend has a Buttikofferi that is 16 years old in a 55

i dont have the pics but i will get her to email them to me. i know rtc's live along time, but in a 180? i didnt figure it would be able to survive anywhere near that long if it was stunted that much.

My LFS has a 2 foot RTC in a 180, its been in there as long as I have gone there which must be getting on for 15 years, it was brought in by someone whos tank it had outgrew.

They have provisions for him if he ever got bigger, but he hasnt grown in at least 8 years.

Very healthy fish, doesnt look stunted, though it must be.

i have an oscar like that. i have had it for over 6 months and it hasnt grown one bit, and it has spent all its time with me in a 500 and then a 1200, but it spent the first 3 years of its life in a 29. it is about 8" long and thinks it is 2'.
