2 spiecies in 55 with Flametails

I have a 55 4 ft tank and I'm.going to put a few flametails in. Problaby 2 m / 7 f. Are there any other species that would work on that size.tank. do not want to.crossbreed. thanks.

Well if you don't want to crossbreed the only option is species only. Peacock females all look pretty much the same. Have you thought about mbuna?

I'm open to any suggestion on anything that would work with the flametails and the tank size of a 55.

The only option is a group of mbuna if you don't want crossbreed. Maybe 1:4 yellow labs?

Not trying to be a buzz kill, but 9 peacocks seems like a lot for a 55, unless they are juvenilles now.

If they are juvenillie, you could add a few mellow mbuna: yellow lab, acei,etc.

That's true, but yellow labs can eventually get to about 6" too.
Although I agree, Acei are a little larger.
I guess my point in responding is that most Malawi fish will eventually outgrow a 55.
It takes time, but it will happen.
A 55 is too small for 9 full grown peacocks, imo, but he can keep them there probably 2 years or more and then trade for smaller fish down the road.
Same with tankmates (most Malawi will eventually outgrow a 55).

You could add one of the lethrinops species. They are relatively mild.
