Can someone explain the benefits of having two static beds and one moving. I am looking to run a similar setup but don't know if I should modify this as I will be keeping stingrays and not running a koi pond

I agree with the previous comments. Moving is always better for nitrification. However I suppose you could get some denitrification from a static bed if the flow is low enough and there is sufficient media to make anoxic zones.

I vote for moving though.

So I have 4 55 gallon drums should they all be filled with k1 moving beds or should I diversify what goes on them. Also how slow does the water have to pass over a sock filter to be affected.
