Jed........a little:help2:

They are wild FL Cichla sp. I say Cichla sp. as the FL Cichla population are hybrids of Monoculus and Ocelaris that is why the offspring sometimes come out looking like either. Most of them have the regular 3 bars but some only have 2 like the ones pictured above.

Those are great pics Ryan. They look almost like they were graphically enhanced.

Wow mate these are very nice cichla.

Looking forward to seeing them grow.

Are you holding on to these guys?

All I did was sharpen them up a tiny bit on p-shop....They are even more striking in person.

Thanks for the info Jed. Are all of the cichla stocked in Florida hybrids? Or have they just all hybridized?

I don't think they intentionally wanted them to hybridize but I think when they brought them in as fingerlings some were monos and some were ocels. You can still see this problem now even in the home aquarium, I can't identify which is which in very small ones, they need to get a decent size of about 4" to really tell the difference. However if you do search for the scientific name that the FL F&W uses they refer to them as ocelaris. But the funny thing is the common name they use for them is "Butterfly Peacocks" which if I'm not mistaken the common named used for Orinocensis.

They are all Jeds, the larger 2 are around 9" and are in my 120 with the other cichla. I guess you can say Jeds very lucky to have me pampering his cichla with the finest diet and quality conditions :naughty: its all worth it for me to have the chance to watch grow such rare and amazing fish.
