I killed 4 out 8 of my baby blue gills. I had a long week. I'd just pulled hard 12.5 hours at the hospital and I stayed over at class to finish up the brakes on a trailer, turned the S cam the wrong way. Long story shorter, I came home after being up 21 hours and decided I'd do a quick water change on my tanks.
I use 2 5gal buckets and a gravel suction thing from walmart for removal and a hose that has a y set up so I can connect to the hot and cold water to get the temp close.
I removed 50% the 20 gal tank, then was starting to refill slow to keep from getting the temp to far off. so I went a head and started to change 20 gal out of the 55 gal. well after I filled the 55 gal back, I went to bed. when I got up the next morning I realized I had LOST 4 of my baby blue gill. best I can figure thet got sucked down the tube and toss out with one of the buckets of water.
well at least I don't have to worry about which ones to cull to the new pond.
