is this too small of a tank for 2 green terrors?

I want to have 4 50 gal tanks for a display all of which are tropical fresh water and I want to have

1 tank for a sand display with a sand puffer
possibly a full planted tank
possibly a turtle tank
I wanted a S. elongatus but that idea was already shot down
is 2 wild caught true green terrors too much for a 50 gal tank?

all the tanks will have overflows and the water will be heated from the sump so the tanks wont have un-needed clutter.

any interesting suggestions are welcome, the only thing set in stone so far is a sand display with a congo puffer... 3 more tanks will need to be filled.

yes I think that 2 green terrors or gold saums are too much for a 50 gallon. if you could get a breeding pair then maybe but there may not be enough space and you may see a lot of aggression between the pair. i wouldn't try it in that size tank. granted the tank's dimensions are more important than the actual gallonage...what are the dimensions of the tank.

also, and I'm really not trying to rain on your parade or anything and it's completely up to you, but imo a 50 gallon tank is overkill for a congo puffer. these guys only get to around 6" and are not very active at all. they spend most of their time hiding in the sand waiting for prey to come along. don't get me wrong, they're awesome fish...I used to have 2 of them. in that size tank though you could possibly have 2 of them so long as you have lots of plants and wood to break up lines of site...i'd be risky but you might be able to do it. also you could probably do some type of top dwelling schooling fish that is very fast....hatchets or something like that...maybe even congo tetras to stick with a biotope setup. :)

im not sure the dimensions yet. I wanted to get 4 tanks and stack them was thinking long tanks

but i dont know.

I hear congos want 30+ gal on wikipedia because of them being dirty.. If I don't do the stacking idea which is losing its appeal already I'll go with my other idea of building a wall unit/stand w.e housing several tanks... just trying to figure out what kinda tanks, to leave room for a sump , stand construction and overflow/irrigation.

how much do those congo puffers usually cost? how big of a tank would you suggest? having two would be cool assuming they didn't kill each other.

I'd want at least a 75 Gallon tank thats 15" wide for 2 Green Terrors, people will tell you a 55 is fine but in my opinion it's bare minimum for a single specimen.

48x24x15" or 60x15x15" would do nicely, a 60x18x15" would be even better. Personally I'm never going to have another tank that's less than 2' wide unless I get into breeding.

yeah I just want someting to do before I get around to getting my 1000gal tank built
maybe ill get another 210 or something.

tanks around here aren`t cheap... 210 = a grand a 150 with 10mm glass is 375$ to get built with glass.

if I rent a uhaul or something ill take it across the country and buy glass for like 5 200gal aquariums and buy or build a few 150s if i dont build a 1000

I think im going to abandon this idea of having 4 stacked 50gal tanks.

I don't have any idea how much congo puffers are going for now. I got the 2 I had back when they were first being imported again several years back. I'd say a 29 gallon for 1 is about perfect. Just keep up on the waterchanges..50% per week is recommended but if you can do more then I would. :)
