I've never encountered this before, I set up my 180g about 2 weeks ago; i transfered about 30 gallons of old tank water from an established tank as well as an XP3 and a Tetra EXpower 50 canister. I used a BB product called Bios and 6-7 inch gold fish to get the cycle going. after the first three days my ammonia was at 3ppm and nitrites at .5 ppms. 3 days after that my ammonia was @ 2 ppms nitrites at 1 ppm and nitrates were starting to become detectable. i didnn't check my parameters again until today, Day 15, and my ammonia is 0ppm, nitrites, 0ppm and nitrates about 20ppm's. Is this tank cycled? seems to fast. i dont want to start adding livestock unless im sure that the cycle is done. any help would be great! Oh and the primary filtration is a 40g sump that had all new media.

hmm...seems fast to me. but it did already spike and level off. its alot easier to trust tests kits if you start with clean uncycled media/water, but that just takes to long for me...best bet is to try it out (just not with a asian aro, heh). happy bday bro!!!

I got my 150 to cycle using 5 convicts and a pro 3 in only 9.5 days, with no added bio sources, everything had no bacteria on it. New gravel, new tank, new filter/media, new water.

Throw a neon or two in there and see if they live a couple days :)
