we have a diamond back sturgeon. he is 2foot now, he lives in our pond with koi. you have a very nice one! ours took only 4 years to reach from 2" to 2ft lol.

but i don't think its so good for them to be in tanks..is it? because they are always swimming...so its like...ponds are better...

I thought at this size, they tend to just sit in a spot for the most part?

no...actually..ours is always swimming...always...this is why they must be in a pond. because even when they are resting they are swimming...they need a lot of oxygen. also need a different diet to other fish if not this stunts the growth of the sturgeon and it will be malnourished. they need cool temps...

Thanks, any idea the ideal temp for the lake sturgeons and white sturgeons?

22 deg cel or lower. ours is in a pond outside so its very cold, but he loves it. i really think yours should be in a pond, or atleast one of the rounded tanks for rays that have a lot of depth aswell...ive never seen one sit so still before..and i think that is gill curl...you should be feeding him a good staple pellet - nishkoi has a good one especially for sturgeon.
