here is an update, love these guys, they take down pellets like no other. do more splashing than my pbass

Those are some nice looking fish =). I have a 18" one and s/he is a great fish to have in my tank.
 
wow, that big one has a really subdued pattern. Is he always like that?

And I know what you mean about the splashing. Mine are huge splashers, especially my shortnose gars.

actually its not always like that, when i had it in my 110 it had faded now that i have it in the 240 its color has come out more. also depends in the lighting

here is a pic of about 2 months ago when i put in the 240 as you can see his color was faded now they are much darker

thanks house, ive kept 3 gars, my first gar with no hesitation at 7" when i first got it ate pellets, later i purchase these two at 12' and 7" and previous owner only fed feeders so i thought it was gonna be a problem but once i drop some pellets to see if they will go for them the larger one took them down, smaller one took about month, i guess you can call it luck, i mostly feed them basic hikari pellets large, krill and market shrimp at times
