IN YOUR HEAD
i am going to be turning my 20gal into a brackish tank...right now it is freash and i have a freashwater lionfish in it...how fast should i turn it and what tankmates should i get...do i need new filtration or will my current regent 350? do the job...

thanx for the tid bit...i only need a hydrometer now...as for the switch being that they are "used to" the fast switch with the tides does it really matter how fast i change it?

maybe a few puffers and something else for tankmates to my toadfish?

could i get like a snowflake?

Puffers will nip at the lionfish's fins. IMO, the 20g is the minimum for this fish alone. Not sure of the species but did you check into the the adult size of this fish?

yes and no. most brackish fish are highly tolerant tolerant of salinity swings with a change occurring every 8 hours (or so) in a natural estuary situation.

but the bacteria in a cycled tank are not as forgiving and need time to adapt. the standard recommended increase is by .02 per week for them.

You might upgrade a foot long meat-eating (lots of waste) fish from a 20g??? Any fish you get with him will have to be much bigger than he is, or it will get eaten. No room in there for that or the fish you have now, as an adult.

i guess i put that wrong:grinno:...when i wrote that i was thinking of my 55gal with it in it...thats were the may upgrade comes in i forgot to type that...i some times get ahead of myself when i type...

Whew, you had me worried for the poof fella! I still think a single foot-long fish in a 55g is good.
